Announcements

In an effort to support Green Chimneys employees through the continuing health concerns, we have compiled the following materials and online resources to provide easy access to information and support you may need. Below you will find agency health guidelines, resources for self care, and quick links to our insurance providers.
This page will continue to be updated to include any new information and resources sent to all employees. This is not intended to replace the Employee Handbook or other Green Chimneys policies, and important updates will be communicated by email and/or mail. If you have questions or need assistance related to your employment, please do not hesitate to contact your department director or email Donna Kessler at dkessler@greenchimneys.org.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and hard work.
We want all Green Chimneys staff to remain safe and healthy. Please continue to adhere to all recommended safety precautions at home and when you go out, and be familiar with our agency’s COVID-19 health guidelines and procedures outlined below and in the Green Chimneys COVID Policy.
It is extremely important that we follow these guidelines. Our individual actions have a tremendous impact on the health and safety of everyone on our campus. For the most current information on the virus, please visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov0
Staff must complete the screening each day they come to work at Green Chimneys; you should only come to work if you’ve received a successful result. If you have a temperature or your responses to the ezSCRN questions indicate you may be a health risk, you must notify your supervisor immediately to determine next steps. Staff who do not have a smart phone, laptop, or desktop to access ezSCRN, must go to the Health Center immediately upon arriving to campus and before proceeding to their work area to have their temperature taken and answer symptom-related questions.
Anyone who is found to have come to campus without this self-screening may be asked to leave campus. Anyone who is found to have come to campus with possible COVID symptoms or who develops possible COVID symptoms while working will be required to leave campus immediately, and must then speak with their supervisor/department director about what should be done next.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Leeanne at ldirusso@greenchimneys.org.

The Green Chimneys wildlife classroom is home to an adorable pair of chinchilla brothers who are often the first animals students want to hold. The brothers are inquisitive and playful but also very shy so students must be calm, and allow the chinchillas to come to them. The students love to build tunnels and play areas for the chinchillas and watch them in their favorite activities: taking dust baths (an instinctive act to clean their fur) and eating raisins. Considered to be the softest animal in the world, the chinchilla is a rodent native to the Andes Mountains of South America, and is a relative of the porcupine and guinea pig.
