Students in Green Chimneys School special education programs attend one of two campuses in Putnam County, NY.
The Brewster Campus serves more than 200 day and residential students in grades K–12 and the Clearpool Campus in Carmel, NY provides smaller classes and a more intimate environment for 40-day students in grades 4–8.
The school sites are unified by the curriculum, central administration and an unparalleled level of expert support from a full staff of certified education and clinical professionals.
Each campus features school buildings, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, a dining hall, and farm and garden areas for educational and therapeutic nature-based activities.
With the completion of an elaborate new habitat built by Green Chimneys’ woodshop students, the Farm Science classroom was able to welcome Brownie into her new home. Brownie previously lived alone in her cage in the farm and wildlife office, but guinea pigs do best in larger environments. The new habitat allows her to live in a herd as she would in the wild, with many places to hide and ways to practice her skills. Brownie has always been a social creature, and she has taken over the guinea pig herd but is a very peaceful leader.
