Announcements

The Sam and Myra Ross Institute welcomes individuals and groups who wish to come to Green Chimneys for observational visits, guided tours and training.
Individuals may arrange for a planned day visit to include a tour of the program, lunch, meeting with staff, observation of programs and opportunity to ask questions. A general tour is approximately 4 hours and is best scheduled during the week. While there is no charge, a $50 donation is suggested and much appreciated. Tours must be scheduled in advance.
Academic and professional groups can arrange a full-day experience with The Institute. Professional tours can be tailored to the needs of the group and efforts will be made to provide speakers and tour guides that reflect the group’s credentials and interest areas.
10:00am – 4:00pm

With the completion of an elaborate new habitat built by Green Chimneys’ woodshop students, the Farm Science classroom was able to welcome Brownie into her new home. Brownie previously lived alone in her cage in the farm and wildlife office, but guinea pigs do best in larger environments. The new habitat allows her to live in a herd as she would in the wild, with many places to hide and ways to practice her skills. Brownie has always been a social creature, and she has taken over the guinea pig herd but is a very peaceful leader.
