Green Chimneys cherishes its many corporate relationships and always welcomes new ones. Some of our corporate partners provide in-kind product donations, others financial assistance, and still others, sponsorship support. Increasingly, companies are looking for long-term partnerships with nonprofit organizations that engage their employees and reflect their corporate social responsibility agenda. We are committed to providing our corporate friends with a meaningful experience that motivates their employees and positively positions them with key constituencies.
Each year, employees from companies both large and small volunteer their time to Green Chimneys through a Corporate Day of Caring. Leaving their high-pressured jobs behind, these spirited employees don a pair of jeans and get to work. They do everything from plowing, planting or painting to planning “gee whiz” projects for our children. Last year, our corporate volunteers gave us more than 3,180 hours of “free labor” – a huge benefit to us. Help us top that number this year!

With the completion of an elaborate new habitat built by Green Chimneys’ woodshop students, the Farm Science classroom was able to welcome Brownie into her new home. Brownie previously lived alone in her cage in the farm and wildlife office, but guinea pigs do best in larger environments. The new habitat allows her to live in a herd as she would in the wild, with many places to hide and ways to practice her skills. Brownie has always been a social creature, and she has taken over the guinea pig herd but is a very peaceful leader.
