The Green Chimneys Clearpool Campus is a premier outdoor education center and recreation facility for nature-based education and discovery. Located on 350 acres of natural woodlands, Clearpool offers a spectacular setting for school students and community groups, families, and anyone who wants to experience nature in a unique, year-round environmental exploration setting. An array of programs includes nature study, adventure learning, seasonal activities, day or overnight excursions, and summer camp.
Countless ecological resources and extensive wildlife make Clearpool a dynamic wilderness education classroom, retreat and conservation site for all ages. Protected woodlands include more than five miles of forest trails, a natural lake, marsh, wetland, and extensive stream system, and numerous habitats containing diverse populations of plants, birds, and animals.
The red-tailed boa, also known as the boa constrictor, is native to the trees of South America — but this one hails from Long Island, New York! He was born and raised in captivity for three years until his owner decided to donate him to the Green Chimneys Wildlife program. In the boa\’s specialized enclosure, students can observe his movements and behaviors and even assist with feeding him rats.
