Green Chimneys School’s annual Talent Show is a highly anticipated event for our students, as well as our recreation experts and art therapists who organize the event. With each performance, students conquer anxieties by applying developed coping skills to emotionally-packed experiences. These moments, backed by a community of trust and support, become building blocks to developing authentic self-confidence for each student.
Students, their families, and Green Chimneys staff offered positive acceptance and support through applause, affirmations, cheers and high-fives for each student who graced the stage.
The quality of talent was beyond words! From musical, vocal and dance performances to live-action drawing, magic shows, card tricks and even skateboarding, students used the arts to share their hearts and impressive hidden talents with the entire community.
The show offered an enormous range of inspiration, from classical Beethoven to Broadway’s Hamilton, rock music classics such as Elton John, The Cranberries and Radiohead, and modern pop hits such as Owl City and Alan Walker. Even inspiration from popular video games, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Deltarune, Omori, and 2wei was on display.
We couldn’t be more proud of our students. Congratulations to all!
With the completion of an elaborate new habitat built by Green Chimneys’ woodshop students, the Farm Science classroom was able to welcome Brownie into her new home. Brownie previously lived alone in her cage in the farm and wildlife office, but guinea pigs do best in larger environments. The new habitat allows her to live in a herd as she would in the wild, with many places to hide and ways to practice her skills. Brownie has always been a social creature, and she has taken over the guinea pig herd but is a very peaceful leader.
