There are few things more graceful than a horse and rider moving as one as they seamlessly complete a well-appointed jumping course. Place it in a bucolic setting like Phoenix Horse Farm in Patterson, NY and the experience is breathtaking. Thanks to our friends and neighbors Peter Connor and Debbie McCarthy Connor of Phoenix Horse Farm and Spencer Lampert and Diane Garnick Lampert of Freedom Hill Farm and Rescue, Green Chimneys had a front row seat to five days of exciting horse jumping!
For the second year, Green Chimneys had the honor of being the charity of choice for the annual 2018 Phoenix Horse Farm Classic Horse Show at Freedom Hill Farm. A “boutique style,” one-ring jumper competition, the Phoenix Horse Farm Classic is a wonderful event that celebrates horses, riders and owners.
“Phoenix Horse Farm and Freedom Hill Farm share Green Chimneys’ admiration and respect for horses,” states Kristin Dionne, Green Chimneys Director of Development. “We are so fortunate to have wonderful neighbors to include us in such an exclusive event.”

With the completion of an elaborate new habitat built by Green Chimneys’ woodshop students, the Farm Science classroom was able to welcome Brownie into her new home. Brownie previously lived alone in her cage in the farm and wildlife office, but guinea pigs do best in larger environments. The new habitat allows her to live in a herd as she would in the wild, with many places to hide and ways to practice her skills. Brownie has always been a social creature, and she has taken over the guinea pig herd but is a very peaceful leader.
