For youth looking for a way to spend some free time after school, meet up with peers on Saturdays or simply find helpful support, the Community Outreach Center offers free drop-in activities and scheduled programs in a safe and comfortable setting for community youth ages 7-20.
The After School program offers structured activities, homework assistance, arts and crafts, community service projects and other indoor and outdoor activities, including games and special event activities. The program is designed to promote positive youth development in a safe place where youth can interact with peers, develop new skills, enhance their academic performance, become involved in positive recreational activities, and increase their community involvement through volunteer services. Daily on-site counseling and group activities are available as needed. There is no fee to participate.
An additional evening drop-in program for youth ages 14-20 is provided Thursdays 6-8pm and Fridays 2:30-8pm. The program offers individual, group and peer counseling, basic need assistance, assessments and referrals for mental health, substance abuse or health-related services in an environment that promotes safety, stability and positive youth development. There is no fee to participate.

The Outreach Center also hosts weekly support/information groups for Putnam County youth. Psycho-educational group meetings run for 8 weeks and build continuity with youth and support their growth and development. More
Opportunities to complete required community service are available at the Outreach Center. Youth aged 14 and up can work as volunteers at the Center helping younger youth with homework, leading arts & crafts activities, teaching skills/hobbies or assisting staff with special projects. Social and recreational activities are offered along with the above groups.
Green Chimneys staff also attend school, health and community activities/events to provide interactive presentations on a variety of topics to youth and other interested groups throughout Putnam County. If your school or organization is interested in inviting us to present, please contact Erin LeMon
These Katahdin sheep twins were orphaned at birth and came to Green Chimneys during the chilliest part of winter. The children and farm staff carefully nurtured the babies following a strict schedule of bottle feeding, even into the night. Measuring formula to feed baby lambs helps teach children math and measurements, and is very important because baby lambs can get very sick if they are fed too much. The pair grew healthy and strong and is very popular with the children.
