A Message from Green Chimneys Executive Director

June 6, 2020

In light of current events, it’s important that we have clarity on who we are as an agency, and the values we wish to embody.

Green Chimneys’ mission to serve children relies on many things; among them is the belief in the dignity and worth of all living things. The Green Chimneys Community is one of safety, respect and inclusion for our students, their families, our staff, and all who pass through our campuses. We honor the differences that make us individual and distinct, and the compassion and caring that connects us.

The events leading up to, and that continued to unfold, this past week remind us that we must be unwavering in standing up for fairness, standing up for basic human rights, and standing up for those who need our voice. Green Chimneys stands against racism, social injustice and inequality of any kind.

We value a collaborative culture built on professionalism, accountability, respect and the unique contributions of all team members. We are committed to protecting and supporting each and every child we serve and to that end, we support our staff as advocates for all children. As educators, we will continue to teach our students about the importance of compassion, kindness and inclusivity. As colleagues we will continue to uphold the values of our shared community to be a safe and welcoming environment for all.

We understand that this time can be extremely challenging on many levels. Teams and resources are in place to support Green Chimneys families and staff; we encourage you to reach out.

Please stay safe and stay well.

Edward Placke, Ed.D.
Executive Director
