PONY RIDES AND HAY RIDES FEATURED AT FALL LITTLE FOLK FARM DAYS
BREWSTER, NY -- (September 26, 2005) -- Riding a pony is a dream for many children from the cities and suburbs, but at Green Chimneys' fall Little Folk Farm Days, the dream will become a reality for hundreds of area youngsters. They'll also get a "hayride" and a day of fun and games. It's all part of an annual two-day event being held on the 196-acre Brewster campus on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"Green Chimneys operates one of the few farms left in what was once a totally rural county," explains Green Chimneys founder Dr. Samuel B. Ross, Jr. "With so many children growing up in cities and suburbia, many have lost touch with our agrarian society of days past. We designed Little Folk Farm Days as an educational and fun event to introduce youngsters to farm life. Thanks to our sponsors -- Gammons Hoagland, Scholastic Magazine, Costco, Putnam Federal Credit Union and Brewster Ford -- thousands of children will get a glimpse of rural living."
Little Folk Farm Days program is ideal for families, play groups, nursery school children and elementary school students. Admission includes a pony ride, a "hayride," cookie decorating, games and more. Tickets are $7 per child if pre-paid and $10 at the door. Tickets for adults are $5. Lunch may be purchased on the campus for an additional charge. Registration is required for groups of 10 or more. For reservations, telephone Tracy Noroian at (845) 279-2995, ext. 363.
