Our book fair returned this season with results that delighted library staff, who reported a whopping 77.93 percent increase in sales over the fair!
“Due to the generosity of students' and employees' family and friends, $300 worth of gift certificates were bought for faculty, as well as more than 20 books from teachers' classroom wish lists!” reported librarian Criss Smith. “Thank you to staff, families and the public who attended and supported the fair!”
With the strong support received at the Fall Harvest Festival and Visiting Sunday -- as well as staff sales on Friday and Monday -- our sales were up nearly 80 percent over last year, breaking the $3000 mark. Green Chimneys earned 30% profit, which is doubled by taking the profit in books and vouchers instead of cash. This profit is divided among the students who volunteered at the book fair, teachers who participated in the wish list program, the library and the education curriculum specialist's office.
