Throughout the month of October, Green Chimneys will play a leading role in Morgan Stanley’s “Lights on Broadway” campaign. Thanks to longtime corporate partner and supporter Morgan Stanley, images of Green Chimneys – featuring our animal partners – will be “up in lights” on the exterior digital billboards of the company’s headquarters in the heart of Times Square.

With this opportunity for “screen time” in one of New York City’s busiest neighborhoods, we hope to shine a light on the great benefits of animal-assisted activities and therapies for children with special needs. Our campaign will generate awareness of Green Chimneys by grabbing the attention of the 330,000 residents, tourists and business professionals that pass through Times Square every day. We look forward to sharing the energy and excitement through special events, publicity and social media to spark interest and inspire participation from new friends and supporters. “Lights on Broadway” is also a unique moment to connect with our current supporters and reinforce the value of what we do.

“For over 10 years, Morgan Stanley has been an outstanding philanthropic partner to Green Chimneys and a model of corporate citizenship,” says Green Chimneys Executive Director Joe Whalen. “We are extremely proud to be a part of this exciting and informative communications effort.”

These special interactions can help children who face an array of social and emotional challenges to discover their strengths, build self-esteem, and develop the coping skills they need.

“My child’s year at Green Chimneys was a true turning point,” shares the parent of a child featured in one of the images. “The opportunity to be with the animals and in nature facilitated the growth and change our child needed in order to flourish.”

We are grateful to Morgan Stanley for this opportunity and its decade-long commitment to our work. Each June as part of the firm’s Global Volunteer Month, nearly 200 enthusiastic employees arrive on campus to complete significant projects, whether it’s painting fences, beautifying our gardens or repairing damage done during the harsh winter months. Morgan Stanley has also been a generous contributor and we were thrilled to honor them at our 2013 gala.

Visitors to Times Square will be able to experience the excitement throughout the month of October by visiting Morgan Stanley's NYC headquarters on Broadway and 48th Street.
