After-School Drop-in Program
The after-school program offers structured activities, homework assistance, arts and crafts, community service projects and other indoor and outdoor activities, including games and special event activities. The program is designed to promote positive youth development in a safe place where youth can interact with their peers, develop new skills, enhance their academic performance, become involved in positive recreational activities, increase their community involvement through volunteer services and reduce risk for entering the juvenile justice system. Daily on-site counseling and group activities are available as needed.
An additional evening drop-in program for youth ages 14-20 is provided on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm. The program offers individual, group and peer counseling, basic need assistance, assessments and referrals for mental health, substance abuse or health-related services in an environment that promotes safety, stability and positive youth development. Outreach workers also attend school and community activities/events to provide interactive presentations on a variety of topics to youth and other interested groups throughout Putnam County.
Green Chimneys now offers 8-week psycho-educational group meetings to build continuity with youth and support their growth and development. To learn more about these weekly meetings or to sign up, email the Outreach Center or call 845.279.1467.
