Home and Community Based Waiver Program
The Home and Community Based Services Waiver, which was launched by Green Chimneys’ Community Based Services program in April 2007, enables children to remain at home, and/or in the community, thus decreasing institutional placement. The program uses an individualized care approach to service planning, delivery and evaluation. This approach is based on a full partnership between family members and service providers. Service plans focus upon the unique needs of each child and builds upon the strengths of the family unit.

 Good Friend
Good Friend, a youth mentoring program based in Danbury, Connecticut, has helped pair "big friends" with "little friends" since 1975. They match children, 7-14 years old, who come from single parent or no-parent families with a caring adult volunteer in the community. The program, which became part of Green Chimneys Children's Services in 1991, has helped hundreds of individuals and families improve their lives. Its mission is to offer children positive adult relationships that foster confidence and caring. Good Friend serves the Housatonic Valley region, which includes Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman.
