Green Chimneys recently received a little makeover thanks to "Day of Action"
Green Chimneys was one of 38 organizations who benefited from United Way of Western Connecticut's corporate volunteerism event, "Day of Action." With willing spirits and paint supplies at the ready, volunteers from Union Savings Bank painted the interior of Green Chimneys' group homes, while individuals from Cartus painted the Greenery Cafe, located on Main Street in Danbury.
We're grateful for the support this day provides -- not to mention inspired by the scores of volunteers who donate their time to Green Chimneys throughout the year. Volunteers, either individually or through their employer, select from a wide range of opportunities including working with students in our nature-based education programs, providing office assistance, helping with horticulture and more. As a nonprofit organization, Green Chimneys relies on those who give of their time, expertise and heart!
More than 700 volunteers from across Fairfield county came together on June 6 at the Amber Room in Danbury, CT to kick off United Way of Western Connecticut's "Day of Action." This volunteer event is designed to help people who help others: local social service agencies.
