Green Chimneys is proud to be a resource and partner to the families we serve. Here are just a few of the many comments and letters we receive from parents. We believe that what they have to say echoes the feelings of parents who have placed a child in any one of our programs over the 63 years that Green Chimneys has been in existence.

I have no words to express how thankful my family is that we found Green Chimneys. For years my child was attending schools that supposedly were to help him and yet his anxiety level kept increasing, the programs they offered did not meet his needs.
Ever since he’s started at Green Chimneys, not only Keith, but all of us, are happier. Gardening, farming, etc, all of the classes have helped him immensely. Keith is calmer, more confident, does not hate going to school. Everything that Green Chimneys offers is just what my child needs.
Thank you, MR

I'm writing this letter to share how Green Chimneys has helped my son Antonio. When Antonio arrived about 4 months ago he was very impulsive and struggled with social boundaries. Now at just a short time he has shown improvement and has learned techniques at Green Chimneys to keep himself calm. As for me, having the support from the staff at Green Chimneys has meant a great deal because it's something that lacking in our community.
Sincerely, IL

We were at a dead end. My child was unable to ride a school bus or complete a day of school, had no interest in school, and had a rough time making any type of friendships. My child was also hospitalized three times due to violent outbursts. Then we found out about Green Chimneys.
My child has successfully been attending, getting good grades, and has made friends inside and outside of school. This program has improved the overall quality of life for our entire family. He is now able to handle tough situations and work through them safely. Without Green Chimneys I can sincerely say that I do not believe my son would be able to be the functioning member of society that he is on the road to becoming today.
Sincerely, PK A Grateful Green Chimneys Parent

Green Chimney's has been a blessing to my family. About 5 years ago my son was having a really tough time and was not allowed into the public school system anymore because they could not 'handle' him.
Green Chimney's opened their heart and their arms to take him in and help him, and us. My son is not perfect, but has come so far from where he was with his inability to talk about things or accept change in anything. He is continuing to learn how to cope and get a handle on his impulsiveness and some behavioral issues, but with the staff and programs at Green Chimney's I know he can do it. Every day I am so thankful for what I have been blessed with and will continue to be a proud parent of a Green Chimney's student.
Sincerely, JH

My son Ryan came to Green Chimneys as a sixth grader. He will graduate this June at the age of twenty-one, he has literally grown up at Green Chimneys. He didn't just learn academics, but how to handle change and how to fit in the world. The staff has always treated him with respect and dignity. As a parent of a vulnerable child, I have always felt confident that he would be taken care of at Green Chimneys, even in the midst of a crisis. Through the Green Chimneys programs, he has become a young adult who has learned to compensate for his deficits due to his autism. Although he has become and adult, and finished school, he says it is bittersweet, he will miss Green Chimneys, his home away from home. For my part, I thank God every day that Ryan ended up there.
