The Triangle Tribe Agency Operated Boarding Home is designed as a small, home-like, structured program for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youths, 16-20 yrs. old. The primary goal of the program is to provide a safe, structured and home-like environment for young people who have struggled in other existing child welfare settings.

Green Chimneys’ AOBH program provides for safety, permanency and well-being. It places importance on education; a structured daily routine; individual, group and family counseling to lead toward reunification with family; and the development of age appropriate and basic life skills.

The AOBH program also provides health and mental health services; appropriate school placement; and caring adult supervision by specially trained child care, social work & clinical staff. The program is staffed 24 hrs. a day. Administrative staff are on call 24 hrs. a day. The boarding home is located in the Borough of Manhattan in the village of Harlem. The site is fully furnished and equipped with all that is necessary to provide a safe, secure and structured home.

Program Goals

• To provide stable, safe living accommodation for youth in NYC.
• To provide basic life-skills information, counseling & education services with weekly individual & group sessions.
• To conduct an individual educational assessment for program youth by our NYC-based psychologist & education coordinator, and to develop a plan for educational advancement.
• To conduct an individual psychiatric assessment by our NYC-based psychiatrist to assess mental health status and to prescribe clinical interventions to be implemented by the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• To conduct individual substance abuse assessments for all program youth by our NYC- based substance abuse coordinator and to develop a plan for prevention,
• education and treatment, if indicated.
• To conduct a complete medical screening and to provide access to health care services for all program youth with our partners in the community.
