The Green Chimneys Farm Internship is a unique hands-on learning opportunity for individuals to develop skills in dynamic nature-based programs, and experience working with the children and animals of Green Chimneys.
The farm internship experience includes helping with farm chores and animal/plant care, assisting with our special education farm classes, working closely with our residential units, and training and practice conducting animal-assisted and horticulture activities with our student population on-campus. Interns are invited to work alongside and under supervision of experienced Green Chimneys staff to provide meaningful and therapeutic activities to our children. A role in programming and events for the general public is also included.
If you are looking for an experience working with children and animals in a therapeutic environment, you are strong and willing to work hard, and you possess appropriate background, a Green Chimneys Farm Internship can be highly rewarding.
Internships in our equine, farm animal, and wildlife areas run in three (3) sessions, each from 3 - 5 months in duration:
January 2 - May 31 June 1 - August 31 September 1 - December 31
Horticulture internships will be offered from March to November, both in our educational and vocational gardens.
Farm internships are full-time and run semester-long. Room and board plus a small stipend are available. An Internship Certificate is awarded upon completion.
