ADMISSION CRITERIA:
DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM - BREWSTER, NY
The Day School program is designed for students who have been unsuccessful in a traditional educational setting and who require a small, structured and therapeutically supportive setting. Admission Coordinator, Eleanor Rothenberger, M.S.W., Ext. 186.
Services include:
- 12:1:1 special education classrooms
- therapeutic activities including farm science, therapeutic horseback riding, gardening & horticulture, woodshop, computers, life skills, aquatics, physical education, art, music, library and outdoor education
- educational and psychological evaluations
- social work counseling, both individual and group
- speech and language therapy
- remedial tutoring
- "Learn & Earn" program students participate in on-campus jobs in their area of interest, i.e. farm, kitchen, pool, etc.
Inclusionary Criteria:
- Children ages 6-15 referred by their home school district. Referral packet must include current psychiatric, psychological and educational evaluations, social history and IEP.
Exclusionary Criteria:
- IQ below 70
- Active substance abuse
- Severely assaultive behaviors
- Serious animal abuse history
- Inability to manage in an open campus setting
- Active psychosis
- Fire setters or high risk for fire setting
