Internships in Social Work

Social Work - Residential Treatment Center (RTC)
Interns get hands-on experience working to help evaluate and coordinate services for children and their families, both on campus and in their communities. Interns are responsible for individual and family therapy, as well as case management for a caseload of two to three children. In addition, interns serve as primary group facilitator for at least one group of eight children. They are also asked to develop and facilitate a short-term psycho-education, clinical issue-specific or behavior change group during their time here.

Residential Social Work interns are expected to attend staff meetings, peer supervision, clinical seminars, team business and case conferences. Interns are also required to work one evening (11am-7pm) a week and one Sunday per month (10am-3pm).

Interns participate in Green Chimneys staff training, which includes certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), First Aid/CPR and Child Abuse and Maltreatment for Mandated Reporters. All interns report to a Licensed Social Worker who guides them through a school year-long internship.
